Last week my sister participated in the “Nijmegse vierdaagse”. This is a 4 days march, where the participants walk 40 kilometers every day! On Friday me and my family went to Nijmegen to wait for her at the finish line.
The whole week it had been fantastic weather, no rain and on average around 23 Celsius. Unfortunately on Friday, when my sister was almost at the finish line, it started to rain combined with thunderstorms. Of course we are faithful supporters so it did not scare us away and after an hour waiting in the rain and being soaking wet, there was my sister! Despite the heavy rainfall, and tired of walking 160km she was smiling and laughing as always!
Petra, well done!
The 91st Four Days Marches took place from 17-20 July in Nijmegen and is the biggest walking event in the world. This year 37.505 people from all over the world participated including about 5,000 Military. 34.019 participants made it to the finish on Friday. During this week there are also a lot of festivals in the city, this year over a million people came to Nijmegen to join the festivals and live music.
