KLM Flying blue, award tickets

By Andree Toonk | July 16, 2007

klm flying blueThe last few weeks I‘ve spend my night behind my computer looking for information about visa, searching for jobs, apartments and a ticket! I recently found out that I have quite an amount of air miles on my KLM / flying blue account. Those air miles are earned by the many flight I made last two years for work. I found out that for a two way ticket Amsterdam – Vancouver 50.000 miles are required, I have over 60.000 miles so a free ticket!! Well… Not quite. When I tried to book a flight on the KLM website using my air miles, the results consistently was “no seats available”. I tried a number of different dates, however without luck. So I called KLM and asked them. Their answer was rather disappointing. It turns out that on every flight only a small number of seats are available for award tickets (the ticket you buy with air miles). The first opportunity to fly to Vancouver on an award ticket will be in November!! That is too late for me, so no award ticket for me this time. What should I do with all my air miles if I can not even use them?!? I guess I just need to pay for a ticket this time. Luckily the air miles are valid for 3 years, so I can already start to think about a nice tropical holiday on air miles later. Maybe to Brazil? :)

Rob, I’m thinking about a mileage system for lease cars? Time spend in traffic counts triple!

Flying blue, Sounds like a nice service, but if you are never allowed to use it.. what good will it do?
Dre, I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you so that you can use this free ticket somewhere in the next three years!
Now wait a minute… Is it exchangeble? For money? Or better, can you give it away as a gift? ;)

    Kind regards,

Check out kvstool.com it might help.
i encounter the same problem. but try to fly from their hubs ( dfw, mem, msp, nyc, ewr, dfw, atl, cvg) etc and then ask for a connecting flight from where you’re from to one of these cities,

Er zijn meer mogelijkheden om wel een award ticket te bemachtigen. Award tickets boeken via Air France.Com of ons inschakelen
