The last few weeks I‘ve spend my night behind my computer looking for information about visa, searching for jobs, apartments and a ticket! I recently found out that I have quite an amount of air miles on my KLM / flying blue account. Those air miles are earned by the many flight I made last two years for work. I found out that for a two way ticket Amsterdam – Vancouver 50.000 miles are required, I have over 60.000 miles so a free ticket!! Well… Not quite. When I tried to book a flight on the KLM website using my air miles, the results consistently was “no seats available”. I tried a number of different dates, however without luck. So I called KLM and asked them. Their answer was rather disappointing. It turns out that on every flight only a small number of seats are available for award tickets (the ticket you buy with air miles). The first opportunity to fly to Vancouver on an award ticket will be in November!! That is too late for me, so no award ticket for me this time. What should I do with all my air miles if I can not even use them?!? I guess I just need to pay for a ticket this time. Luckily the air miles are valid for 3 years, so I can already start to think about a nice tropical holiday on air miles later. Maybe to Brazil?
